Public Health
Standards
The standards
are measures that evaluate the performance of Washington’s
public health system. They define public health processes and
responsibilities that
communities need and measure the capacity of public health
agencies to provide these processes and responsibilities.
The standards
were jointly written by local and state public health
representatives in 1998. Since that time, the standards have
been updated four times. In 2009, the
National Public Health
Accreditation Board (PHAB) developed a set of standards for
voluntary accreditation for public health agencies. The
Washington standards and processes are now closely aligned with
these national efforts.
Public Health Standards Workgroup
The Public
Health Standards Workgroup provides oversight to the revisions
of the standards, the standards review processes and
quality
improvement efforts.
