PIRT Panel Eliminated July 1, 2010 One of the outcomes of the 2010 legislative session was the elimination of the Pesticide Incident Reporting and Tracking (PIRT) Review Panel. The PIRT Panel was one of several boards, commissions, committees, and panels eliminated by ESSHB 2617. The PIRT Panel held its last meeting on June 17, 2010. In 1989, the legislature created the PIRT Panel, directing the various state agencies responsible for pesticide regulation to coordinate their activities in a timely manner to ensure adequate monitoring of pesticide use and protection of workers and the public from the effects of pesticide misuse. The PIRT Panel carried out that direction, reviewing and approving an annual report each year summarizing pesticide events that occurred in Washington State. These reports are available below. In the absence of the PIRT Panel, the Department of Health will continue to work with partner agencies in the investigation and prevention of pesticide-related illnesses. For more information, see the Pesticide Illness Monitoring and Prevention Program.
