Final Animal Massage Rules Filed

We filed rules to implement the certified animal massage practitioner program on June 24, 2011. These rules become effective 31 days from the filing date or on July 25, 2011.

Persons may now apply to practice as a certified animal massage practitioner. We will begin accepting applications but will not issue certifications until the rules become effective on July 25, 2011.

Animal massage school seeking Washington State approval must provide the following information on the course curriculum:

• Specific courses and topics taught
• Number of hours of instruction offered in each course or topic
• Number of hands-on instruction in each course or topic
• Accreditation status of the program
• Instructor qualifications or background
