Application Status
We process applications in the order we receive them.
We are now beginning the review process for applications with checks or money orders
that cleared the bank on or before:
May 14, 2012
You can check the status of your application on our
Provider/Credential Search. If your application is incomplete,
we will notify you of what we need to complete the application process.
Annually, we process thousands of health care professional, facility,
and organization applications for licensure, certification or
registration.
In each case, we conduct a thorough evaluation of basic health care
credentials, employment or work history, and any criminal or
disciplinary history. We may require out-of-state applicants to
complete a finger-print background check. This may increase
processing time.
Processing time begins when we receive an application. It
varies for each individual application on a case-by-case basis.
Please make sure you review and meet the criteria on the application and
agency web site for your profession. It can take a few weeks or
more to process an application. This depends on completeness of
you application and how quickly you comply with requirements.
Delays may occur if:
- We do not receive required documentation.
- You send inaccurate documentation.
- You answer “yes” on your personal data questions.
- We find a criminal history in your background check.
- You received your training outside of the U.S. or are applying for
interstate endorsement. There may be a delay in receiving
documentation from the other countries or states.
- You are waiting to take or receive exam results.
- You send the wrong fee amount. Correct fees are posted on professions web pages.
Note: Facilities and organizations may take longer due to the scheduling and conducting of an inspection, and waiting for inspection results.
We make no guarantee of licensure, certification or registration. Some applicants make commitments to start work at a certain time and later find they cannot keep the commitment because they have not received a credential. Please remember, Washington State law requires us to follow all aspects of the credentialing process.
If you are applying for licensure, certification or registration, please review the following suggestions. This also applies to those who recruit and hire health care professionals:
- Give the department adequate time to meet legal processing requirements.
- Submit all application materials and fees as quickly as possible. Please comply with the directions in the application and on the website. We cannot issue credentials unless we receive all required documents and fees.
- Understand your application may take longer if we need more information or find any discrepancies.
Thank you!
