Emergency Resource Guide  (2008)

The 2008 version of the Emergency Resource Guide is available below for download and in print from the state Department of Printing's General Store Web site. The Spanish version of the 2007 Emergency Resource Guide is available for download and in print. The 2008 version contains several new pages as well as many updated pages. The Emergency Resource Guide is produced jointly by the Washington State Department of Health and Washington Military Department Emergency Management Division.

Order print copies of the Disaster Preparedness Handbook in English and Spanish
To help ensure statewide distribution, we ask that individuals limit orders to a maximum of 5 copies; organizations in Washington State may order up to 250 copies. Orders for more than 250 copies are subject to Department of Health approval. Sorry, we can't fill orders from outside of Washington State.

Order the Emergency resource guide from the Washington State Printer's "General Store" Web site. At the Web site, follow these steps:

  • Register and select a password

  • Choose the option "Shop by agency"

  • Select "Department of Health."

  • Select "Emergency preparedness and first responders"

  • Select "2008 Emergency Resource Guide"

Prepare: Home Emergency Guide (2011)


The home emergency guide is an 18 page booklet that describes ways to prepare for and handle the health problems that arise during emergencies, especially those related to the loss of electricity: storing food safely, cooking and heating safely, getting safe drinking water and avoiding disease.
