The Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis Drug Assistance Program (PrEP DAP) is offered through the Washington State Department of Health (DOH). It helps people in Washington, who are interested in accessing PrEP and need financial assistance paying for all or part of generic PrEP medication and PrEP related healthcare services.

How does PrEP DAP work?
PrEP DAP may be able to pay your provider, laboratory, or pharmacy for your costs for generic PrEP medications plus certain medications and health care services related to sexual health care and prevention.
PrEP DAP has a statewide network of providers, laboratories, and pharmacies that will submit your bills to PrEP DAP for payment. PrEP DAP pays the bills if you are eligible on the date of service and the medication or services is covered by PrEP DAP. Learn more about PrEP DAP Coverage.
What services are covered with enrollment?
Coverage is limited to generic PrEP and medications found on the List of covered medications and health care services found on the PrEP DAP List of Covered Services (PDF). PrEP DAP Eligibility
To be eligible for PrEP DAP, you must
- Test negative for HIV, and
- Live in Washington State.
You must apply for PrEP DAP to make sure you are eligible for help paying for medication and care. If approved, you will be enrolled in PrEP DAP.
Once enrolled, you will receive a letter from the Department of Health Client Services with eligibility information and a prescription drug identification card from Ramsell. You should share this information with your provider and pharmacy.
How do I apply for PrEP DAP?

Common Questions
Does PrEP DAP only offer drug assistance?
No. PrEP DAP also pays for limited PrEP-related medical visits and lab tests. Enrollees must go to providers and labs that contract with PrEP DAP.
Do I have to go to a provider or clinic in the PrEP DAP network?
Yes. PrEP DAP will only pay in-network providers and clinics so if you choose to use an out-of-network provider or clinic then we cannot help pay for your out-of-pocket costs.
Can my provider join the network?
Yes. If your provider would like to become contracted with the WA state Department of Health, they can submit a Client Services EIP and PrEP DAP Provider Contract (PDF).
Can I send my bills directly to PrEP DAP to get paid?
No. PrEP DAP cannot send payments to enrollees. PrEP DAP pays in-network providers when they submit bills for pre-approved services provided to PrEP DAP enrollees.
What should I do if I get a doctor or lab bill?
Contact us for help. Sometimes this happens. If it does and you believe the services should be covered by PrEP DAP, contact our office or a Prevention Service Partners so we can work with your provider.
