Long power outages can be deadly for people who need electricity for medical devices and assistive equipment.
Why is data on people with electricity-dependent medical equipment important?
During a power outage, especially ones that last several hours or days, people who need electricity to power medical equipment may need to use a back-up power supply or go somewhere else that has power.
Information about how many people have medical needs for electricity, and where they are, helps public health professionals, community partners, and emergency planners plan for these needs. This helps protect people during a prolonged loss of electrical power
