The Washington State Department of Health achieved national accreditation in February 2013. Accreditation is official recognition that the department meets or exceeds the rigorous standards for excellence established by the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB). The voluntary national accreditation program works to improve and protect the health of the public by advancing the quality and performance of state, local, tribal and territorial public health departments. PHAB accreditation shows our commitment to continuous improvement, and demonstrates our current level of excellence to those with which we work.
The department will apply for reaccreditation in the winter of 2017.
