Immunizations at 9 Months

Keep Your Baby Healthy

Regular checkups are important even for healthy babies. Your doctor or nurse will check your baby’s growth and development and answer any questions you have. Take your baby’s Lifetime Immunization Record (PDF) and Childhood Health Record (PDF) to every checkup. If your baby needs any missing vaccine doses, catch up now. Being fully immunized helps prevent serious diseases, such as whooping cough, meningitis, and flu. Vaccines can prevent diseases that may lead to pneumonia, blood infections, brain damage, and death in children. Make sure you, your baby's siblings, and your baby' caregivers are up-to-date on immunizations. This helps protect him or her even more. Antibiotics Use

When your baby gets sick, you may want to give medicine to help him or her feel better. However, do not expect your doctor to always give your baby antibiotics. Antibiotics do not kill viruses, which most often cause colds.
