Seasonal Summer Hazards
The seasonal summer hazards dashboard shows trends in emergency department (ED) visits in Washington state for asthma, drownings, heat-related illness, recreational boating injuries, and smoke exposure alongside temperature and air quality data. The data are compiled from RHINO and are presented at the State and County level. All relevant ED visits in Washington are included, regardless of where the patient resides.
Why Is This Data Important?
The data on this dashboard helps us monitor the healthcare impact of seasonal hazards (including temperature and poor air quality) in near-real time during seasonal events (such as the 2021 Heat Dome) across time and by Washington county.
Due to a processing delay that began on May 17, 2024, some of the RHINO data may be incomplete. We are working to identify a solution and will update and backfill the missing data when it becomes available. Please contact the RHINO team at RHINO@doh.wa.gov with any questions.
