Childhood Immunization Schedule

The Childhood and Adolescent Immunization Schedule is designed to protect children from serious illnesses as early as it is safe and effective to do so. The recommended timing is based on extensive research to maximize safety and effectiveness.

The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) has developed its own schedule, which is based on the recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). The AAP is an organization founded in 1930 that now has approximately 67,000 members, including pediatricians, pediatric medical subspecialists, and pediatric surgical specialists. The AAP is dedicated to promoting the health, safety, and well-being of infants, children, adolescents, and young adults.

For additional information and resources on childhood vaccinations, visit the DOH Immunizations and Vaccines website, which includes guidance for children of all ages, from infancy through adolescence. You can also visit the School and Child Care Immunizations Information for Families webpage to learn more about vaccine requirements for school and child care in Washington State.
