Data dashboards provide an interactive way to explore public health and environmental data. Most dashboards have filters for easily selecting the measure, geography, and timeframe of interest. Data can be viewed as a map or as trends over time and are available for download. If a topic has data available in a dashboard format, you will see a button on the topic page that looks like this:
How to Use
Each dashboard topic has multiple dashboards, listed in gray boxes or tabs across the top of the page. For example, Biomonitoring contains dashboards for Organic and Inorganic Arsenic, Metals, and Pesticide Metabolites. You can scroll through the dashboards using the arrows to the right or left. For topics that use boxes, the dashboard you are currently viewing will show up highlighted in darker gray.
On topics that use tabs, such as Social Determinants of Health, the active dashboard has a white background and inactive tabs are grayed out.
Once you select a dashboard, you will be able to filter the data that you are viewing. The dropdown filters allow you to select relevant criteria for your interest in that topic, such as demographics or geographic area. Some dashboards also have sliders to select which years you want data displayed for.
Information about the data or display is shown at the bottom of the dashboard page.
Downloading the Data Table
The last dashboard (on the far right of the dashboard selection bar) titled “Data Table” or “Download Data Table” allows you to select the data you would like to download for analysis.
To download the data once you have selected your filters, follow these five steps:
Step 1: Select data in drop down menus to the right.
Step 2: Click anywhere on the data table once.
Step 3: Select “Download” at the bottom of the dashboard or in the tool bar above the data.
Step 4: Select “Data.” If “Data” is grayed out, go back to Step 2 and ensure that you have clicked a cell in the data table.
Step 5: Select “Download” again.
