How May I Participate in Rule Making?
The rules writing process is open to the public. The public is welcome to take part in helping us write rules. Rules are also known as regulations, Washington Administrative Code, or WAC. The rule-making process includes public notices and workshops, and usually a public hearing before a rule becomes final.
Current Rules in Progress
The Department of Health filed a CR-101 on September 29, 2025 under WSR 25-20-070 considering amendments to WAC 246-805-210, 246-805-240 and 246-805-330. These amendments will remove barriers for education and update the requirements for continuing supervision for certified behavior technicians and licensed assistant behavior analysts.

Recently Completed Rules
The Department of Health filed a CR-1023 Rulemaking Order with the Office of the Code Reviser on May 17, 2024 (PDF). The rule changes went into effect on June 17, 2024. The new rules revise and clarify qualifications and processes for applied behavior analysis licensure and certification. A rules hearing took place on April 4, 2024.
