View Plan

Comprehensive cancer control programs allow communities to pool resources to lower the burden of cancer. This process works to:

  • Reduce the risk of cancer
  • Find cancer earlier
  • Improve cancer treatments
  • Help more people survive cancer
  • Improve the quality of life for people who have cancer

The goal is to collaborate to identify problems and develop solutions to issues for the policies, systems, and environments around the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. Working together helps us save resources and get better results.

Washington’s Comprehensive Cancer Control Program

We follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommended priorities for cancer control:

  • Primary prevention
  • Early detection and screening
  • Health and well-being of cancer survivors
  • Evidence-based intervention strategy improvement
  • Health equity
  • Program evaluation

We couldn’t do this work without key partners, including:
