What’s Happening
On August 4, 2026, the Department of Health (department) filed a CR-102 (PDF) with proposed changes to chapter 246-358-010, 246-358-025, 246-358-027, 246-358-080, 246-358-990, and 246-359-550. The department is proposing amendments to add a definition for ‘site operation date’, add the term in the applicable section, remove gendered language, make editorial updates to align with the Code Reviser’s 2025 Bill Drafting Guide without changing the effect of the rules, and align requirements for carbon monoxide alarms and smoke detectors with the state building code, chapter 51-51 WAC.

The department invites you to comment on the proposal through September 22, 2026 at midnight. A public hearing will be held on September 22, 2026 beginning at 9:00 a.m. to give you an opportunity to provide oral comments.
