The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) works with its partners to protect and improve the health of all people in Washington state, with a vision of equity and optimal health for all.
Protecting personal information is important to DOH as it pursues its mission. Executive Order 16-01 (PDF) directs agencies to store and handle personal information with a high level of privacy and security, and Executive Order 25-09 (PDF) specifically emphasizes Washington’s commitment to protecting the data privacy and security rights and interests of immigrant communities.
The Privacy Office leads DOH’s effort to be open and transparent with the public and its partners about what personal information DOH collects, as well as how and why DOH uses personal information. Providing clear information about our data practices is an important part of maintaining public trust and is required by the Washington State Privacy and Data Protection Policy (PDF). The Washington State Agency Privacy Principles (PDF) guide DOH when it handles personal information, and DOH utilizes the Privacy Framework for State Agencies (PDF) to build and guide its privacy program.
