Secure Access Washington (SAW)
Login Instructions for Existing Users

Follow each step to ensure your online renewal is completed successfully.


Step 1: Get started here. Enter the user ID and password you previously created. Select “Submit.” If you forgot your SAW user ID and/or password, select the "Forgot your username?" or "Forgot your password?" link. Mobile users will need to select the “Sign Up!” button."

Step 2: If you have a SAW account but you haven't used it to renew your credential online, you'll need to select "Add a New Service."

Step 3: Select the "I would like to browse a list of services" and choose the "Department of Health" from the list.

Step 4: Select "Health Professional and Facility Licensing (HELMS)" from the list and choose "Add Service." You'll see the "Service Registration Successful" page. Select "OK."

Step 5: Select the “Health Professional and Facility Licensing (HELMS)” link.

Step 6: Select "Continue.”

Step 7: You'll be routed to the Department of Health, Health Enforcement and Licensing Management System (HELMS).

Note: There is a 2.5% convenience fee to renew online with a credit/debit card. There is no convenience fee for ACH payments.
