The Midwifery Advisory Committee's mandate is to protect the public's health and safety, and to promote the welfare of the state by regulating the competency and quality of professional healthcare providers under its jurisdiction. The committee accomplishes this through a variety of activities working with the Department of Health, Health Systems Quality Assurance.

Committee Overview
The Midwifery Advisory Committee is a diverse group comprising physicians, midwives, and a public member. Additional experts in childbirth may join as needed.
Financial Support
Committee-related subsistence and lodging expenses are provided for official engagements.
Responsibilities
The committee advises the secretary on critical matters such as continuing education, reexaminations, and peer reviews.
Meeting Schedule
Regular meetings, about three times annually, are historically scheduled for June, September, and December.
