Naturopathic Physician - Rules in Progress

Rules in Progress

The rules writing process is open to the public. The public is welcome to take part in helping us write rules. Rules are also known as regulations, Washington Administrative Code, or WAC. The rule-making process includes public notices and workshops, and usually a public hearing before a rule becomes final.

Current rules in progress

The Board of Naturopathy (board) has the following rule projects currently in progress:

  • Non-surgical cosmetic procedures. The board filed a CR-102 on July 2, 2018, under WSR # 18-14-085 (PDF), proposing an amendment to WAC 246-836-210 and a new section, WAC 246-836-212. The proposed rule change and new section clarify the practice of non-surgical cosmetic procedures performed by naturopathic physicians. A rule adoption hearing was held on September 7, 2018. Due to the significant public comment and public testimony received, the CR102 expired before the board was able to come to a decision on formal adoption. The board is considering filing a second CR102 and holding another rule adoption hearing.

The board strongly encourages all licensees to review the naturopathic physician laws and rules on a periodic basis, but especially when changes occur. Remember that, as a licensee, you're responsible for knowing, understanding, and complying with chapter 18.36A RCW and chapter 246-836 WAC.
