You can now apply and renew facility licenses online through the Health Enforcement and Licensing Management System (HELMS) for the following facility credential types:
- Ambulatory Surgical Facilities
- Animal Care and Control and Humane Society
- Behavioral Health Agencies (BHA)
- Birthing / Childbirth Centers
- Blood Establishments
- Dental Laboratories
- In-home Services, Home Care Agencies, Home Health Agencies
- Hospice Agencies
- Hospitals (Acute Care, Psychiatric, Alcohol and Chemical Dependency Hospital)
- Medical Test Sites
- Nursing Pools
- Pharmacies and Pharmaceutical Firms
- Residential Treatment Facilities (RTF)
Get started with HELMS
To access HELMS, use your Secure Access Washington (SAW) account and add the “Health Professional and Facility Licensing (HELMS)” service button under services from the Department of Health. This service will prompt you to create a HELMS account by matching your information to existing licensing information or to create a new account for new applicants.

Once you’ve created a HELMS account, you’ll be able to:
- Apply for a new license
- Apply for a change of ownership or ownership contact information
- View facility licensing information
- Apply for a change of location
- File a facility name change
- Submit renewal applications
- Complete payments and download receipts
- Amend credentials
- Download application and credential information
