What's Happening
On June 22, 2026, the Department of Health (department) filed adopted changes to:
- WAC 246-222-080 Inspections not warranted—Informal review, and
- WAC 246-243-205 Temporary job site notification.
The adopted revisions are intended to improve the flexibility of the department to provide the most up-to-date contact information by phone, website, and correspondence rather than by rule. Additionally, adopted editorial changes are intended to improve the clarity of the rules without changing their effect. No comments were received during the formal public comment period. The updated rule will be effective beginning July 23, 2026.
Why?
The purpose of chapter 70A.388 RCW includes providing for a program of effective regulation of sources of ionizing radiation for the protection of occupational and public health and safety. The adopted revisions streamline departmental processes to reduce the cost of government and to improve responsiveness. The changes also align the rules with the Code Reviser’s 2025 Bill Drafting Guide and Instructions on Style for the Washington Administrative Code.
