Executive Office of Health and Science

In the Executive Office of Health and Science, we use science, data, methods, and equitable policies to protect and improve the health of all people in Washington state in our areas of focus of disease prevention and environmental protections.
 
We do this by:

  • Preventing and reducing exposure to health hazards in the environment and supporting healthy places where people live, work, and play.
  • Protecting the community from new and existing diseases, toxins, and other health hazards.
  • Giving guidance and direction in public health clinical science, lab science and safety, information science, veterinary science and One Health, and epidemiology (the study of patterns of disease in groups of people).
  • Making sure that our communities and partners have the information they need, in a way they understand, to make informed health decisions.

The Office of Health and Science has three areas to guide and support our efforts:
