The Radioactive Materials Section regulates radioactive materials licensees throughout the state of Washington and is funded entirely by license fees. There are many types of radioactive materials licensed by the Radioactive Materials Section. About 40 categories have been defined for the purpose of assessing fees, and are subdivided into these categories:
It is highly recommended that you contact the appropriate Radioactive Materials staff to avoid mistakes which could delay your licensing request.
Online License Fee Payment (PDF)
To ensure prompt processing of invoice payments for your radioactive materials license, please submit payment with the invoice remit slip attached at the bottom of your invoice to the PO Box below (also listed on the invoice remit slip). If you do not have an invoice remit slip to submit with payment, contact our database manager.

Calculating Fees
New Applications
The total fee you must submit is the current annual fee, plus the one-time new application license fee of $474.
Renewal Applications
The current annual fee.
Additional Service Fees
Additional service fees apply to a second follow-up inspection, expedited licensing review, expedited sealed source and device review, environmental cleanup monitoring visit, etc. (WAC 246-254-120).
The current hourly billing rate is $295 per hour.
Sealed Source and Device Evaluation
The current hourly billing rate is $248 per hour (WAC 246-254-120).
