About Our Program
We license and regulate companies that commercially harvest and sell molluscan shellfish. We also track levels of biotoxins, vibrios, norovirus, and other pathogens in shellfish, and close commercial harvest areas when levels are too high. Our goal is to make sure shellfish offered in markets and restaurants are safe to eat.
