The 988 Crisis & Suicide Line: A Resource for Health Care Workers

Many people experience suicidal crisis or mental health-related distress without the support and care they need. The 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline helps thousands of people in emotional crisis every day.

Attend this webinar to learn how to support and connect your patient & health care worker community to Washington’s 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. This presentation offers an overview of the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: the history, training of counselors, line availability, how to access the line, what happens when someone contacts 988, and resources to share with your communities. The 988 Lifeline helps anyone in emotional crisis and features specialized lines for Veterans, Spanish speakers and other languages, LGBTQIA+ youth, and a Native and Strong lifeline.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Recognize your role within the 988-crisis line. 
  2. Understand how to integrate 988 Lifeline resources into your practice and community. 
  3. Explain the 988 Lifeline and available resources with staff as well as the populations you serve. 
  4. Differentiate between uses of the 988 Lifeline resources versus other 3- digit resource numbers (211, 911).

The webinar will be recorded and there will be live ASL interpretation. Continuing education credit for nurses and medical assistants is available.

Health for Health Care Professionals: Taking Care of Yourself as You Care for Others

This webinar occurred on March 19, 2025. Continuing Education Credits are available for nurses and medical assistants until June 19.

Description: This webinar will help participants identify and name experiences that contribute to their own sense of personal burnout and / or restoration both on and off the job. Developing an understanding of what works for you personally, as you engage in health care support for others, facilitates healthier engagement in your work. Participants will evaluate opportunities for the development of healthy boundaries and strategic use of “off” time, as well as the importance of attending to the compassion rewards that are available in connecting with patients.

The learning objectives for this webinar are to:

  1. Identify experiences that contribute to burnout vs restoration. 
  2. Develop a personal plan for healthy engagement. 
  3. Establish healthy boundaries around work and “off” time.
Health for Health Care Professionals: Promoting and Participating in Healthy Teams

This webinar occurred on April 9, 2025. Continuing Education Credits are available for medical assistants, nurses, pharmacy technicians, and pharmacists.

Description: Building from our first workshop, this session will focus on characteristics of well-functioning health care teams. As health care professionals we are frequently presented with patients, colleagues, or friends and family members who are in crisis and in need of support. This workshop provides participants with basic knowledge about how to support behavioral health for yourself and others. These skills can influence healthy team growth and culture change in a direction that is consistent with a larger mission. Participants will learn strategies on how to best help others while also being mindful of and compassionate towards themselves and their own wellness. This will also include crisis management and de-escalation skills to help effectively engage with colleagues who are struggling, communication tips, and development of core values to inform difficult decision making and address challenging issues.

The webinar will be recorded and there will be live ASL interpretation. We are offering free continuing education for nurses, medical assistants, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.

The learning objectives for this webinar are to:

  1. Identify opportunities to engage in crisis support and healthy communication with other team members.
  2. Develop understanding and familiarity with collegial supportive best practices.
  3. Identify and use core values to inform responses and behaviors.
