We Offer 2 Methods of Credential Verification:
- Written verifications - Sent by the Department of Health (DOH), and
- Online verifications - Available through the DOH website.
Please note: DOH does not complete forms from other states; we provide our own.
How to Request an Out-of-State Verification:

Log in to your HELMS Portal via Secure Access Washington (SAW).
- Navigate to the "All Credentials" tab to view your credentials.
- Click on the three dots under "Actions", then select "Request Verification Letter".
- Choose a Delivery Method:
- Email - Enter the recipient's name and email address.
- Mail - Enter the recipient's name and mailing address.
- Click "Submit" and follow the prompts to complete the request, including any applicable fees.
Payments can be made over the phone at 360-236-4700 once you have received your deficiency letter by email or mail. You may also mail in your payment to P.O. BOX 1099, Olympia, WA 98504-7877.
If you made your request online, you can sign back into SAW and pay online. Please do not make duplicate requests to pay. Contact 360-236-4700 for instructions.
Verifications are processed in date order by date received, whether it be by mail, email, or online. Please contact 360-236-4693 with general verification questions.
