The jurisprudence examination is:

Every denturist must complete the jurisprudence examination when applying for initial licensure and as part of continuing education as required in WAC 246-812-120.
The jurisprudence examination contains questions related to Washington state denturist laws, rules, interpretive statements, and guidelines. Once you begin the examination, there are web links to the law, rule, statement, or guideline that is associated with that specific question. You must receive a 100 percent on the examination.
Examination results are sent to the Department of Health electronically after you select the submit button at the end of the examination. You must screen-print your examination results before selecting the submit button. You will not have access to obtain a copy after you select the submit button.

No. You may take the jurisprudence examination at any time during the application process. You must pass the jurisprudence examination before a license is issued.
- Is the Jurisprudence (JP) Exam required for renewal?

Yes, effective December 6, 2025, licensed denturists must complete and pass the JP exam before or at the time of their annual renewal.
- How much is the JP exam, and where is it administered?

The JP exam is free and completed online.

The exam is open-book and designed to familiarize providers with Washington denturist laws and regulations. The exam is under 20 questions and requires 100% correct answers for successful completion.
- Can I still count this exam towards my continuing competency?

Yes. Two hours of continuing competency may be granted toward the CE requirements every three years.
