In the Executive Office of the State Health Officer (OSHO), we strive to improve the health of Washingtonians through data, collaborations, evidence-based guidance, and timely and accurate public health information.
We do this by:
- The state health officer (SHO) serving as a key spokesperson on public health issues
- Connecting the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) with Tribal and local public health systems, particularly in the areas of epidemiology and data
- Collaborating with Washington’s health care system on public health issues
- Providing public health expertise to inform agency strategy development
The Office of the State Health Officer has three areas to guide and support our efforts:
- The Center for Epidemiology Practice, Equity, and Assessment (CEPEA)
- The Center for Public Health Informatics (CPHI)
- The Center for Public Health Medical Sciences (CPHMS)
