Executive Office of the State Health Officer

In the Executive Office of the State Health Officer (OSHO), we strive to improve the health of Washingtonians through data, collaborations, evidence-based guidance, and timely and accurate public health information.

We do this by:

  • The state health officer (SHO) serving as a key spokesperson on public health issues
  • Connecting the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) with Tribal and local public health systems, particularly in the areas of epidemiology and data
  • Collaborating with Washington’s health care system on public health issues
  • Providing public health expertise to inform agency strategy development
