WIC is the Women, Infants and Children Nutrition Program
WIC improves the health and nutrition status of pregnant people, new parents, infants, and children under 5. WIC provides health screening, nutrition education, nutrient-rich foods, breastfeeding support and referrals to other health and social services.
Nearly one-third of all babies born, 29% of pregnant people, and 36% of children under the age of 5 in Washington are on the WIC Program.
In Washington, WIC reaches over 145,000 women, infants, and children in 208 clinics each month and provides services to over 212,000 individuals each year.
WIC is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture and operated by the Washington State Department of Health.
