WIC is the Women, Infants and Children Nutrition Program

  • WIC improves the health and nutrition status of pregnant people, new parents, infants, and children under 5. WIC provides health screening, nutrition education, nutrient-rich foods, breastfeeding support and referrals to other health and social services.
  • Nearly one-third of all babies born, 29% of pregnant people, and 36% of children under the age of 5 in Washington are on the WIC Program.
  • In Washington, WIC reaches over 145,000 women, infants, and children in 208 clinics each month and provides services to over 212,000 individuals each year.
  • WIC is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture and operated by the Washington State Department of Health.
