Common Tasks

SCCI Wizard

The School and Child Care Immunization Wizard is a tool for questions about immunization requirements, forms, the School and Child Care Immunization Module, roster uploads and delegation requests.

This page is for school and child care staff who would like to see common School and Child Care Module (SCCIM) tasks staff may perform throughout the year. This page provides an outline of activities beginning with the start of the school year.

Beginning of the Year

Complete the first roster upload of the school year to SCCIM

  • See the Manage and Upload Rosters webpage to see our detailed instructions for how to create and submit your roster for upload.

Update school or child care information

  • If a school or child care has had a name change, or to add a new school or child care to the district or child care program in SCCI report the information through the SCCI Wizard following the prompts for ‘Other’.
  • If the grades available at your school have changed, follow the instructions to change them SCCI found in the Training Guide: SCCIM for Schools (PDF)

Manage staff accounts

  • If the main contact for SCCIM at your school or child care has changed, please use the SCCI Wizard with the new person’s contact information.
  • For new staff who need to set up accounts, please have them follow the instructions for creating accounts on Create and Manage Accounts.
  • To reset a password, get assistance accessing an account, or to inactivate the accounts of staff who no longer work at the school or child care, contact the Washington State Immunization Information System (WAIIS) Helpdesk.
  • Registered nurses (RNs) may request a new delegation or rescind delegation of vaccination entry to unlicensed staff through the SCCI Wizard following the prompts for the “Delegate” or ‘Rescind” options. For more information about delegation see Understand Delegation.

Prepare for the Annual Immunization Report

  • Determine if your school, district, or child care will report through an online REDCap survey or through SCCIM. The Department of Health will send out a survey to collect this information as the deadline approaches.
  • If reporting through SCCIM, have a plan to ensure your roster is up to date. See Manage and Upload Rosters for more details.
    • If reporting through the REDCap survey, identify a point person who will manually complete the report.
    • Additional information about reporting will be sent out to your lead contact.
  • For more information see Complete Annual Reporting.

During the Year

Continue to update the roster.

End of the Year

Determine how you plan to update student grades for the upcoming year

  • The SCCIM team can complete a roster upload to update grades and add new students or children. Learn how to update the grades of your students by visiting the Manage and Upload Rosters webpage.
  • You can manually change the grades of students on a roster by following the instructions in the Training Guide: SCCIM for Schools (PDF).

Inactivate staff accounts

  • Contact the Washington State Immunization Information System (WAIIS) Helpdesk to notify them of accounts that need to be inactivated. Examples include former employees or employees changing duties who do not need account access anymore.
  • If an account hasn’t been used in 4 months, it is automatically deactivated and will require a password reset.
  • Registered nurses (RNs) should rescind delegation of vaccine entry for staff no longer at the school or child care staff through the SCCI Wizard following the prompts ‘Rescind”. For more information about delegation see Understand Delegation.

Update the lead contact for SCCIM at your school or child care

  • If your lead contact for SCCIM has updated contact information or is changing to another person, please report that through the SCCI Wizard.
