The rules writing process is open to the public. The public is welcome to take part in helping us write rules. Rules are also known as regulations, Washington Administrative Code, or WAC. The rule-making process includes public notices and workshops, and usually a public hearing before a rule becomes final.
Current Rules in Progress
The Department of Health filed a CR-102 under WSR 26-21-069 on October 20, 2026, proposing rule amendments in WAC 246-338-990 to update fees for medical test sites. A public rules hearing is scheduled for December 1, 2026, at 3 p.m. Below are instructions for commenting on the proposed rule, information on registering for the rules hearing, and supporting documents.

Newly Adopted Rules
The Department of Health filed a CR-103 to adopt new rules (PDF) in chapter 246-338 WAC, sections 022, 040, 050, 060, 070, 080 and 090. The amendments go into effect on December 28, 2024.
