- Provider Alert: Increase in Perinatal Hepatitis C Infections

Washington state is experiencing a concerning increase in HCV diagnoses among children between the ages of 2 months and 36 months, consistent with perinatal HCV infection. In 2024 (the most recent year for which finalized HCV surveillance data are available), 10 perinatal HCV cases were reported to Washington State Department of Health (WA DOH). From 2018–2022, an average of 4 cases of perinatal HCV were reported annually.
