Everybody deserves to have medical pain treated appropriately. Opioids can help, but they can also involve risks. Learning about Washington's new prescribing requirements is important for anybody in the state taking opioids for pain.
The new requirements are designed in part to reduce prescription opioid misuse. They're also intended to protect the care of all patients, including pain patients. The rules don't discourage appropriate pain management.
