What We Do
The Department of Health's (DOH) Sexual and Reproductive Health Program works with local, state, and national organizations to improve access to quality and comprehensive sexual and reproductive health information and services, including abortion.
Our goal is to help people be their healthiest selves through accessing health services that respect and support their right to make choices about their own body.
The Sexual and Reproductive Health Program receives and administers funding that supports the Title X Project and the Abortion Access Project. These projects help provide sexual and reproductive health services at our partner organizations.
Our partner organizations provide services in a compassionate, non-biased, and trauma-informed manner:
- Counsel and screen to support patients’ sexual and reproductive health needs.
- Help people achieve their desired number of children, including no children and determining the timing and spacing of pregnancies.
- Ensure best practices for non-coercive, trauma-informed, person-centered care.
- Inform people across Washington and beyond about related issues and services that impact sexual and reproductive health.
How We Do It
Sexual and Reproductive Health Program
Title X is the only federal grant for sexual and reproductive health services and supports clinics across the United States. We use a combination of state and Title X federal funding to support 14 organizations with 97 clinic sites that offer direct clinical services and education.
Title X funding supported the following services:
- A broad range of contraceptives
- Pregnancy testing and all options counseling
- STI or HIV testing and treatment
- Basic infertility services
- Preconception services
- Adolescent services
- Referrals to medical and social services
Who Can Access Services
Our supported clinics offer discounts based on family size and income and serve all who want and need sexual and reproductive health services. They focus on providing services to people who have low-income and people without insurance or whose insurance does not cover the cost of care).

Abortion Access Project
Abortions are legal in Washington and the state provides funding to support access to abortion services. The Sexual and Reproductive Health Program administers these funds to support 5 organizations with 34 clinics across the state in offering compassionate, high quality, and safe abortion care.
