Emergency Volunteer Health Practitioner Act- apply for your Washington license right away!

If you're currently licensed in another state and practicing in Washington under the Emergency Volunteer Health Practitioner Act, remember:

When the governor-declared emergency ends, you must have a Washington state license. If you don't, you won't be able to practice in Washington.

We encourage you to apply for your Washington state license as soon as possible.

We process applications in order of date received. We're currently issuing temporary practice permits within seven to nine days. (Applications may take longer to process if they are missing any requirements.)

You may use the Online Application Portal to apply for the following licenses:

  • Registered nurse (RN)
  • Licensed practical nurse (LPN)
  • Advanced registered nurse practitioner (ARNP)
  • Nursing technicians (NTEC)
