The Center for Public Health Medical and Veterinary Sciences (CPH-MVS) has expertise in medicine, veterinary medicine, and public health. We are composed of epidemiologists, nurses, veterinarians, and physicians.
Our expertise is wide ranging and includes:
- Behavioral health
- Environmental health
- Outbreaks
- Communicable diseases
- Healthcare systems support
We view health through the lens of One Health. One Health recognizes the interconnection between people, animals, plants, and their shared environment. Its goal is to achieve optimal health outcomes. One Health is a collaborative, multi-sector, and transdisciplinary approach that works at the local, regional, national, and global levels.
We work closely with people and programs within the Washington State Department of Health, local health jurisdictions (LHJs), and Tribal Nations.
Within CPH-MVS we have four regional medical officers who act as public health clinicians to support LHJs and Tribes across the state of Washington. Our entire center supports the state’s public health system with the most current public health medical and veterinary science.
