Nearly all health professionals whose credentials are within 90 days of their expiration date may renew their active status licenses, registrations or certifications online. Many professions have been setup to renew credentials online when expired. We're continuing work to add additional professions. See our license renewal FAQs titled, "Can I renew my expired credential online?" for a list of credential types currently eligible for late online renewal. There is a $2.50 convenience fee to renew online. If you choose to renew online, you don't need to mail your renewal notice to the department.

You won't be able to renew online if:
- Your license, registration or certification is expired. Note: Many professions have been setup for late online renewals. See our license renewal FAQs for more information.
- You're currently in any other status such as military, inactive or retired.
- You currently have an active license with restrictions, probation, or conditions.
- You want to change your status.
Safari and Firefox users may experience challenges when attempting to renew online. Some Safari users have reported receiving an “Approved” message appearing to be a receipt for a $0.00 transaction. If this happens, your credential hasn't been renewed and you may want to try renewing again using Google Chrome browser or call us for further assistance – Internet Explorer version 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 or 11 and Google Chrome work best. Online services are configured to work with PCs and PC-based laptops. Mobile device and tablet users may experience technical difficulty attempting to renew online. - Step 1: Is your contact information current?
If your contact information isn't current in our system, we recommend you complete and submit the contact information change form before renewing online. We mail renewed credentials to the address on file at the time of renewal. The U.S. Postal Service won't forward Department of Health mail. A valid email address is mandatory. Updated credentials are typically printed daily during normal business hours.

- Step 2: Has your name changed recently?
Before renewing online, we recommend submitting any name change requests to our office at least two weeks before renewing online. We print renewed credentials with the name we have on file at the time of renewal. Name change requests require a copy of your certified marriage certificate, divorce decree or court order. The request must be submitted by mail, email, or fax to the customer service office.
- Step 3: There are two login steps in order to renew online: 1. Login to Secure Access Washington (SAW). 2. Login to the Department of Health HSQA Online Services after logging into SAW.
New users must create an account with SAW.Instructions for new users are available or you may start creating an account and renew online here. You'll need the service code 7472 to access the HSQA Online Renewal System.
Previous users must use their existing SAW login ID and password.
