Professional Development Resources

There are many opportunities for public health professionals to build their knowledge, skills and abilities to improve health equity. Cultural competency alone is an ongoing journey. We must continually work at broadening our awareness and challenging our biases.

Where to Start

If you're new to the topic of health equity, we recommend you start with some foundational professional development resources.

  • Raising of America – A film series that aims to re-frame the way Americans look at early childhood health and development.
  • Unnatural Causes - A film series that looks at the connections between health, wealth and skin color.
  • NACCHO, Roots of Health Inequity - A web-based course that covers the roots and history of health inequity.
