Occupational Therapy Licensure Compact

The Occupational Therapy Compact Commission (OTCC) invites you to provide public comments regarding the Data System Rules and the Rule on Definitions. The public comment period is for 30 days from November 8 – December 8, 2023. Anyone interested in reviewing and/or providing public comment can select the link to each document here and follow the instructions for submitting comments. After considering public comments, the OTCC will hold a special meeting on January 11, 2024 to vote each of these rules. You may find a list of upcoming OTCC and OTCC Committee meetings on the OT Compact meetings page.

The Occupational Therapy Licensure Compact (OT Compact) allows eligible licensed occupational therapists an alternative method for providing services in other member states. Under the OT Compact, occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants who are licensed in good standing in a compact member state may practice in other compact member states via a “compact privilege,” which is equivalent to a license.

The governing entity for the OT Compact is the OT Compact Commission. The OT Compact Commission will convene for the first time in August 2022. The commission will adopt initial bylaws and rules to carry out the compact. This activation process generally takes up to a year or longer.

The commission will also create an interstate licensure data system for rapid verification of practitioners’ good standing and sharing of disciplinary information among member states.
