MPV Dashboard Technical Notes:

  • Correction: Due to case duplication, as of 9/30 Kitsap County is now reporting 4 monkeypox cases, and Skagit County one case. These corrections will be reflected in the next dashboard update on Tuesday.
  • The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) is no longer listing positive cases in non-Washington residents, those cases are counted in a person’s state or country of residence.
  • DOH makes every effort to publish updates on Tuesday and Thursday (except for state holidays).
  • Due to processing, there may be some lag time between when a local health jurisdiction confirms a positive test and when that information is added to the data above.

MPV Vaccine Information

As of September 29, 2022, 01:06 AM (PDT), there have been 20717 administrations of MPV vaccine entered into the Washington State Immunization Information System (WAIIS). Of these, 99% have been the JYNNEOS vaccine. A total of 14906 Washington state residents have received an MPV vaccine, of which 5364 are fully vaccinated (i.e., have received two JYNNEOS).

MPV Vaccines

There are two vaccines available for MPV: JYNNEOS and ACAM2000. The current MPV outbreak response has focused on distributing JYNNEOS. There have been very few administrations of ACAM2000, although this analysis monitors for them. JYNNEOS is administered in two doses, the second of which is recommended 24-35 days after the first dose. Below is a table of patient counts organized by JYNNEOS dose number.

MPV Vaccine Data Notes

These data are delayed and will change over time as the Washington State Immunization Information System (WAIIS) is updated by health care providers. About 90% of vaccinations are entered into the system within a week of them occurring, so data are “final” for vaccinations that occurred more than one week prior to the current date. Additionally, these data are around one day behind at the time of analysis, meaning no vaccinations that were performed on the day of this report are included. This means data in this report are considered “final” as of 8 days prior to the report date, or September 21, 2022. In summary, this report was run September 29, 2022, 09:12 AM (PDT) using data that were last updated September 29, 2022, 01:06 AM (PDT).

The total number of vaccines administered may not correspond directly to the number of people vaccinated. The number of administrations includes vaccines given to those who may have died since receiving a vaccine (from causes unrelated to MPV or the MPV vaccine) or to those who do not have a Washington state address. The number of people described above excludes the deceased and those with out-of-state or missing addresses. Also, administration data includes administrations given in Oregon state facilities to Washington state residents. When examining administrations by facility location, these are given the county name “OR State”.

DOH makes every effort to publish updates on Tuesday and Thursdays (except for state holidays).
