New Policy for Oregon and Idaho Dietitians to treat Washington clients during COVID-19
Effective April 20, 2020, a new policy statement went into effect as a response to the COVID-19 declared emergency. Dietitians currently licensed in Oregon or Idaho may provide treatment to Washington residents using telehealth as long as the patient-provider relationship was established prior to the declared emergency and it doesn't create an unreasonable risk of harm. All services provided must fall within the scope of dietetics as indicated by Washington law RCW 18.138.010. Dietitians may not represent themselves as being certified in Washington through the use of certain titles or description of services. See the full policy statement for all pertinent details on the conditions. If the conditions cannot be met then the person will need to seek full licensure.
