We provide job posts for drinking water systems that are either hiring for a vacant position or interested in hiring entry-level operators.
We provide these postings as a service to the waterworks community. Our mission is to assist our partners in providing safe and reliable drinking water. We think the best way to do that is by helping water systems and water operation organizations keep fully staffed with certified waterworks operators.
Note: We (DOH, ODW, and any DOH program or office) do not endorse any water system, utility, or water operations organization that provides job postings on this page.
Water Systems/Water Operations
- You must submit a completed and appropriately signed Recruitment Announcement Application 331-748 (Word) to post a vacant position(s) on this page.
- You must have an application deadline listed in the application. We will not accept "open until filled" for posting.
- You must list contact information for at least one person in the application. This includes email and phone number.
- You need to provide additional details to potential applicants. You can do this by a posting on your water system/utility’s website, at www.GovernmentJobs.com, or other web page listing. If posting is not possible, your contact person and their contact information must be listed on the application, and they must be able to respond to potential applicants with further details.
Potential Applicants

- If you have questions on whether you may qualify for waterworks certification or what level of certification you my qualify for, check the minimum education and experience requirements in our rule, WAC 246-292-060.
- Send any other questions regarding qualifying for waterworks operator certification to dwopcert@doh.wa.gov. Use "Certification Requirements Question" as the subject line so that we know which staff member to forward it to.
