Jefferson County Clean Water District - Anecdotes and Links

Anecdotes

Greatest Success

The CWD has helped to avoid downgrades and communicate the importance of maintaining, instead of correcting, water quality.

Greatest Challenge

The greatest challenge has been developing stable long term funding and finding sources of pollution. Additional marine monitoring by the county to supplement DOH marine monitoring did not add significantly to understanding pollution in Jefferson County.

Needs to Further the Goals or Pollution Control Plan / Lessons Learned

Continue to support the CWD with data results from basic monitoring. Stable funding is needed. The County is asking for an amendment to the ordinance to increase the fee in order to provide additional funding.
