WTN On The Go

WTN On The Go makes viewing environmental health data maps easy on mobile devices. This tool helps you access WTN data while out and about and seeing what environmental conditions you will be in.

If a topic has data available on WTN On The Go, you will see a button on the topic page that looks like this:

There are three map topics available: Radon, Lead Exposure Risk, and Smoke & Air. Various map feature overlays can be turned on and off to show locations such as clinics, schools and daycares.

The Smoke & Air map includes real-time air quality, smoke and wildfire information, which can be helpful for planning outdoor activities and emergency response.

How to Use

The very first time you use the tool, you can enter your location or allow the map to use your location through your mobile device. You can also click the magnifying lens at the far top left to enter an address or zip code. This is particularly useful if you are looking for conditions in Washington from outside of the state, where using the location function on your device would not be helpful.

One of the three available maps will automatically be displayed when you open the tool. You can change which map is showing by selecting the “Topic” button on the far left of the menu at the bottom of the screen.

You can click or tap anywhere on the map to see a popup box that provides more information about the topic in that location.

The “Notes” button gives you information about whichever map topic is displayed, including links to relevant information. It is also where to find basic instructions on how to use the map and additional information about feature maps relevant to the selected topic map.

The “Home” button centers you on your location if you have given location permission. If you haven't enabled location, it will use the last place that you searched for.

The “Map” button tells you what data is being used to form the topic map. The Smoke & Air map uses the Department of Health's Social Vulnerability to Hazards map as its topic map because that is the map that DOH's Emergency Preparedness and Response section uses to guide emergency responses. The Social Vulnerability to Hazards map is available on the Information by Location tool, where you can see more details about each measure.

The “Features” button shows which map overlays are available for each topic. There are some feature maps that may be turned on by default, such as current wildfires on the Smoke & Air map. Each feature has its own informational popup that you can see by clicking or tapping on the feature on the map. Some feature overlays show real-time data, which adds more value for looking at what is impacting your location right now. These real-time features are current air quality, current wildfire area, current wildfires, and smoke plumes.
