Home Care Aide Rules in Progress

The rules writing process is open to the public. The public is welcome to take part in helping us write rules. Rules are also known as regulations, Washington Administrative Code, or WAC. The rule-making process includes public notices and workshops, and usually a public hearing before a rule becomes final.

Current rules in progress

The Home Care Aide Program currently has two open CR-101s.

  • In 2016, the department filed a CR-101 to open the full WAC chapter and conducted multiple rules workshops across the state.
  • In 2017, the department filed a second CR-101 to address additional revisions to the definition for the date of hire and who is exempt from certification. These subjects were not included in the 2016 CR-101.

Because of the time that has passed since the rules workshops on the full WAC chapter, the department invites stakeholders to attend the below rules workshop on the proposed revisions. The revisions include suggestions from the 2016 rules workshops. After considering comments from the July workshop, the department plans to file a CR-102 to proceed to a hearing.

July 17, 2017 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
