Rules in Progress

The rules writing process is open to the public. The public is welcome to take part in helping us write rules. Rules are also known as regulations, Washington Administrative Code, or WAC. The rule-making process includes public notices and workshops, and usually a public hearing before a rule becomes final.

Current rules in progress

The Board of Massage in coordination with the Department of Health is proposing amendments to existing sections of the massage therapist rules to correct the names of the national examinations, clarify the training requirements for somatic education and intraoral massage education, and clarify and modernize the language in the equipment and sanitation rule and the hygiene rule. The CR-102 documents with the proposed rule language (PDF) were filed with the office of the Code Reviser on June 22, 2022, under WSR #22-13-179.
