For Impacted Health Care Providers

In response to Gov. Bob Ferguson’s emergency proclamation (PDF), the Department of Health is extending license renewal deadlines for health care professionals impacted by or responding to the current wildfires in Eastern and Central Washington.

Extending renewal deadlines will help ensure that health care workers responding to or impacted by this emergency can focus fully on their safety and the safety and care of their patients.

Health care professionals whose credential address on file is in Chelan, Douglas, Ferry, Klickitat, Lincoln, Okanogan, Spokane, Stevens or Yakima county, or within the Yakama Nation, Colville Reservation or Spokane Tribe of Indians, will receive an automatic extension if their credential expires during the proclaimed state of emergency which began on August 1, 2026. The new renewal deadline will be 30 days after the state of emergency ends. You do not need to request an extension. We encourage all professionals to renew their credentials as soon as they are safe to do so, rather than waiting until the deadline.

Health care professionals who live outside these areas but work in an affected area and are impacted by or responding to the wildfire emergency may request an extension. Call or email the customer service center for your profession

If the governor extends the state of emergency, DOH will adjust affected renewal deadlines accordingly.
