Rules
- WAC 246-101 requires laboratories (including facilities that use Point of Care Machines) to report all blood lead test results to the Washington State Department of Health.
- All blood lead levels 5 µg/dL or higher in youths and adults must be reported within two days.
- All other test results must be reported within one month.
- CDC Updates Childhood Blood Lead Level Reference Value (PDF) - CDC's recommendation doesn't change the current guidelines for Washington.
Reporting
Option 1: We encourage Electronic Lab Reporting (ELR).
Option 2: If your laboratory or clinic is not set up for ELR, email the blood lead program to begin reporting data or if you have questions about reporting.
