Emergency Medical Services

It's Emergency Medical Services week!

Washington's EMS and Trauma Care system is celebrating 26 years of service.

Washington's EMS and Trauma Care system is celebrating 26 years of service. This life-saving system relies heavily on volunteers:

  • 16,118 people in our state deliver lifesaving services on the “front line” of medicine. More than 30% of these heroes are volunteers!
  • Eight regional EMS and Trauma Care councils work with local councils to develop and implement plans that ensure services are available everywhere in the state. Local and regional council members are all volunteers. Watch a video about Washington's EMS Councils.

From teaching how to safely use child car seats, to responding to emergencies, to serving on a local or regional planning council, there are opportunities for just about everyone.

To learn more or to volunteer:

If you can't volunteer, take some time “give a hand” to the first responders in your community, they are always ready to lend a hand for you.
