Rules in Progress

The rules writing process is open to the public. The public is welcome to take part in helping us write rules. Rules are also known as regulations, Washington Administrative Code, or WAC. The rule-making process includes public notices and workshops, and usually a public hearing before a rule becomes final.

Current rules in progress

The Department is conducting rule making for the Dietitian/Nutritionist program (chapter 246-822 WAC) to update and or implement outdated language. The department last facilitated public meetings in July 2019 with interested parties. In addition, the department has conducted extensive cleanup work on the rule language to streamline and modernize the rule to be consistent with our current standards. To view recommended updates/changes, review the draft rule language for WAC 246-822 (PDF) (the added language is in red underline and the deleted language is in blue strikethrough).

Please join the Department of Health’s Dietitian and Nutritionist program to discuss updates to chapter 246-822 WAC.
